SICOLAB – The Quiet Laboratory Compressor

Quiet. Compact. Mobile. Powerful.

Not every laboratory or medical practice has the space for a separate compressor room. That’s where the SICOLAB oil-free laboratory compressor comes in: quiet, compact, and easy to move – yet as powerful and reliable as a full-size unit. With its small footprint, the SICOLAB fits neatly under any lab bench. Smooth-running castors and integrated carrying handles ensure maximum mobility. Thanks to excellent sound insulation and low vibration, the SICOLAB significantly reduces workplace noise – an important factor in modern laboratories. And with just one annual filter change, this compressor is among the most maintenance-friendly options on the market – even in 24/7 continuous duty.

With our specialised virus-bacteria filter, corresponding to ULPA U16 (EN 1822 classification), you can rely on consistently high air quality. Integrated into the SICOLAB with membrane drying system, the filter allows the compressor to be effortlessly adapted to the required hygiene standards. This ensures a continuous supply of clean, hygienically safe compressed air – protecting sensitive instruments, supporting reliable results, and providing reassurance in laboratories, clinics, and medical facilities.

Looking for a quiet, high-performance laboratory compressor? Our team will be happy to advise you.

Dry compressed air with membrane drying technology

Our laboratory compressors are equipped with advanced membrane drying systems, ensuring a continuous supply of consistently dry compressed air – even under permanent operation. Unlike conventional adsorption dryers, there are no regeneration interruptions, meaning your applications are always provided with the required air quality. The pressure dew point can be flexibly adjusted to meet individual requirements – with reductions of up to 65 K. This ensures air treatment tailored precisely to your laboratory environment.

Your benefits at a glance:

  • Continuous performance with stable air quality
  • Protection of sensitive laboratory instruments and extended service life
  • Hygienic conditions and accurate, reliable test results
  • Energy-efficient thanks to low purge air consumption
  • Minimal maintenance: only one annual filter change required
  • Patented pressure relief valve for optimised start-up behaviour

With this technology, you benefit from reliably dry compressed air for sensitive laboratory and medical applications – efficient, hygienic and sustainable.

Reliable Retention of Microorganisms in Compressed Air

Conventional filtration systems often reach their limits when it comes to microorganisms such as bacteria, fungi, and viruses. Our ULPA U16 high-performance filters, based on advanced filtration technology, ensure consistently clean compressed air – a critical factor in sensitive medical and laboratory applications.

The outstanding filter efficiency has been independently verified: Using the PhiX174 test virus (25–30 nm, significantly smaller than most human pathogenic viruses), the independent SGS Institut Fresenius GmbH confirmed a retention rate of 99.994 % on June 29, 2020. For comparison: SARS-CoV-2: 60–140 nm, HIV: 100–120 nm, Influenza viruses: 80–120 nm. This provides clear scientific evidence that our filters achieve very high separation efficiency even for extremely small particles – ensuring maximum safety in daily practice.

Our virus-bacteria filters correspond to ULPA U16 (according to EN 1822 classification). This means:

  • 99.99995 % retention at MPPS (Most Penetrating Particle Size, approx. 0.1–0.2 µm)
  • Effective removal of virtually all particles – including viruses, bacteria, aerosols, smoke particles, and fine dust
  • Application in environments with the strictest cleanliness requirements: medical laboratories, ISO Class 1–3 cleanrooms, pharmaceutical production, and the semiconductor industry

“The soundproofed SICOLAB compressor station offers a convenient solution for customers without a central compressed air supply and piping system. In such cases, SICOLAB is the ideal alternative, generating compressed air directly in the treatment room. In addition, many phacoemulsification devices require an operating pressure of 7 bar. SICOLAB meets these requirements – even in large hospitals in Malaysia – as a reliable substitute for central compressed air supply.”

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) about the lab compressor SICOLAB

  • What makes SICOLAB different from other laboratory compressors?
SICOLAB combines extremely quiet operation with full-size performance in a compact, mobile format – oil-free, maintenance-friendly, and ideal for continuous use.
  • Is SICOLAB suitable for sensitive analytical instruments?
Yes. With ISO 8573-1 air quality up to class 1:3:1 and optional fine, activated carbon or ULPA U16 filters, it ensures reproducible, uncontaminated results for chromatography, spectroscopy, and more.
  • How often does SICOLAB require maintenance?
Only one annual filter replacement – no oil changes, no downtime.
  • Where can the compressor be installed?
Thanks to its compact under-bench design and quiet operation, SICOLAB can be placed directly in the lab or practice, without requiring a separate compressor room.
  • How do ULPA U16 filters differ from standard and HEPA filters?
While standard and HEPA filters reliably capture many particles, ULPA U16 filters provide an even higher level of performance. They retain up to 99.99995 % of particles at the most penetrating particle size (0.1–0.2 µm). This means they can capture even extremely small microorganisms such as viruses and bacteria almost completely. For laboratory and medical applications, this translates into compressed air quality that exceeds conventional hygiene standards and meets the most demanding requirements.
